Talk given by Prof. Olle Eriksson, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Materials Theory Uppsala University Sweden Abstract: In this presentation I outline an approach to couple electronic structure theory, with theory of magnetisation dynamics. The coupling can be done both in conventional formulation relying on density functional theory and the local density approximation, as well as involving dynamical correlations using dynamic mean field theory. Examples will be give from well-known systems like bcc Fe and hcp Fe, as well as for think film magnons. Technological implications of this work, in terms of emerging field like magnonics will also be discussed.
