Abstract:

In this talk I will present and discuss the results of our recent theoretical investigations of transport properties of molecular junctions, involving magnetic molecules, in the regime of both weak and strong coupling to external contacts. In the former case, I will analyze the behavior of tunnel magnetoresistance of a supramolecular spin valve, built of a carbon nanotube with attached magnetic molecules. On the other hand, in the case of strong coupling, I will focus on the development of the Kondo effect and its dependence on intrinsic properties of magnetic molecules. In particular, a hysteretic dependence of linear conductance in the Kondo regime for a carbon nanotube quantum dot with embedded magnetic nanoparticles will be analyzed. Moreover, the transport properties of hybrid molecular devices, involving superconducting and normal or ferromagnetic contacts, will be discussed.
