Supramolecular Chemistry

The research unit “Supramolecular Chemistry” at the Institute of Nanotechnology (INT) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) studies the assembly and properties of nano-architectures generated by the interaction of organic ligands with metal ions. We are also interested in dendritic architectures and selection in covalent systems.
“Beyond molecular chemistry based on the covalent bond, supramolecular chemistry aims at developing highly complex chemical systems from components interacting through noncovalent intermolecular forces.” (J.-M. Lehn, Science, 2002, 295, 2400-2403).
