1. We study the structure and properties of nano-glasses by atomistic simulations.

  • In almost all tribological systems, glassy surface layers occur after some   friction. We study the possible glass formation from crystalline solid mechanics under extremely large strains on the CuZr system.
  • For comparison we also study the formation of amorphous SiO2 (a-SiO2) during scratching.







2. Friction of graphene
The frictional behavior of 2D materials, such as graphene, has shown surprising traits that differ from their conventional 3D counterparts. Using atomistic simulations, we study atomic stick-slip friction of the few-layer graphene in order to explore the underlying mechanism governing friction in 2D systems.
